Purpose:
May carry out technical imaging processes under the guidance of a certified technologist, combining education and training with job completion to support the technologist in their duties.
Responsibilities:
- Depending on the modality, may use sophisticated imaging equipment for image data collection, processing, reconstruction, and documentation. Under the direction of a technologist or radiologist, performs operations in accordance with protocol.
- Under the direction of a technologist, may carry out daily equipment checks, warm-up processes, and adherence to the quality control program.
- Help the technologist and radiologist set up the contrast, but never load or prime the injector yourself.
- Get high-quality pictures while adhering to radiation safety guidelines and procedures.
- While assisting with placement and examinations, one should never hold the patient or the detector during radiation treatments.
- Utilize the Radiology Information Systems to schedule tests, monitor exams, scan prescriptions, and receive patient arrivals.
- Help the technologist and radiologist conduct examinations tailored to their respective modalities.
- Continue to practice all completed competencies and equipment skills with clinical competence.
Must be enrolled as a second-year student at an accredited institution by ARDMS, CNMT, ARRT, or NMCTB.
Certifications, Licensures, and Clearances:
- Act 34
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) OR Basic Life Support (BLS)
