Concerning The Role:
35 percent Assume technical leadership for the integration of third-party systems with the University’s enterprise resource system. Using Microsoft Project and the Commonwealth’s project management practices and rules, oversee and manage many programming projects that include starting, planning, carrying out, monitoring/controlling, and finishing them. Communicate resource limitations, project progress, and problems to management and peers in a proactive and efficient manner. Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with technical workers.
20 percent Plan, coordinate, and oversee the development of applications and programming for the Ellucian Banner Enterprise Resource system as well as systems from other parties. Organize the unit’s whole programming schedule in order to adhere to project deadlines and financial constraints. Set priorities and make a work schedule. Define the goals and scope of the system; calculate the amount of coding and programming needed; create project completion estimates; and put problem-solving strategies into action. To guarantee adherence to standards and requirements, provide comprehensive technical specifications and provide guidance, oversight, and direction to project team members.
15% To review application and system needs, specifications, estimates, and deadlines to support resources specifying data input/output requirements and incorporating internal checks/controls, meet with application managers, team leaders, and functional administrators. Support customers by assisting resources in resolving problems in a way that is pleasant to them, making sure resources produce user documentation, keeping up-to-date knowledge of functional and application business processes, exchanging information in a proactive manner, and promptly offering feedback on the project’s progress. Make suggestions for enhancing corporate processes.
15% Lead staff members in programming to ensure they are performing at their best. Arrange and rank your job tasks. Help the programming team solve difficult programming challenges by offering guidance and teaching.
10% Take on the role of Application System Administrator for the Oracle database in development, test, production, and pre-production settings. Manage software, including database and Banner application software installation, updates, fixes, and maintenance. Collaborate closely with Ellucian, the DBA, and the IT team to design, build, and maintain the Banner ERP system. identifies, investigates, advises, and fixes issues with intricate systems in a web server/enterprise database setting. Help in the creation and coding of system tools and operating systems (like Red Hat and Unix) to support the environment.
5% Carry out additional tasks as directed by the CIO, Deputy CIO for IT Operations, or Application Services Manager.
