Under the careful supervision of a pharmacist, the pharmacy technician trainee carries out certain technical tasks related to providing pharmaceutical care as delegated and in compliance with Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) guidelines.


Crucial Duties of the Position:

  • Obtains training to carry out certain pharmacy tasks, such as stocking, preparing, labeling, delivering, and labeling pharmaceuticals.
  • Receives training to carry out certain responsibilities, such as inventory control, pharmacy quality control, record-keeping, and order preparation.
  • Cleans and assists with maintaining the workspace and equipment; sterilises glasses in accordance with approved protocols.

Important Success Factors:

  • Rudimentary understanding of common healthcare techniques, treatments, language, and supplies.
  • Familiarity with the protocols and guidelines governing the labeling and administration of prescription drugs.
  • Must be able to read, write, and adhere to protocols for flow charts and instructions.
  • The capacity to count, sort, check, and validate numbers.
  • The capacity to adhere to defined protocols and procedures at all times for environmental, isolation, safety, and infection control.
  • Typing, email, information security, electronic medical records, portable scanning, and other basic computer abilities are among them.

Education: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent 
Experience: Less than One Year
Accreditation, Permit, and Enrollment – Pharmacy Technician Trainee (PHT-T)
