We respect your interest in working with Tech with Good Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with its main office located in Boston, Massachusetts. Our goal is to use technology, one line of code at a time, to improve the world. To work with us in the summer of 2024 to design, create, and test significant software solutions, we are seeking Software Engineer Intern-summer 2024.
This is an educational opportunity where you will work on one of our three initiatives’ software projects while honing your programming and interpersonal abilities.
- Mission Uplink: An internet access initiative run in association with the Malawi Ministry of Education that offers computer laboratories and internet connection to underprivileged schools in Africa and India. In order to create a mesh network for decentralized storage and low-bandwidth internet transmission, dashboards and Linux-based apps must be developed.
- Point Healthcare: A comprehensive platform for monitoring and analyzing trends in electronic health records (EHRs) that will be implemented in Tanzania. built with Go and React.
- Project Interactivity: An animation and virtual laboratory creation framework that may be used for any topic. Stack Unknown.
Gathering customer needs, specifying system functionality, and creating code in a variety of languages—such as Go, Python, and Javascript—are among the responsibilities. The software development life cycle, from initial system analysis to testing and deployment, is well-known to our ideal candidates.
Responsibilities:
- Closely collaborating with a group of software developers to create, document, test, implement, and manage software solutions
- Analyzing information requirements, speaking with users, working with cross-functional teams, and comprehending work processes, data utilization, and system flow in order to develop technological products.
- Generating flowcharts, layouts, graphs, charts, and clean, commented code to document solutions.
- Taking part in code reviews and giving other team members input
- Doing systems analysis and suggesting modifications to rules and procedures in order to improve operations.
- Acquiring knowledge about and maintaining current with cutting-edge software development techniques and technologies
- Delivering weekly updates to external stakeholders and internal management
Desired Qualifications:
- A solid background in computer science with courses in algorithms, data structures, and program architecture; the ability to create software in Go, Python, and Javascript
- Understanding and practical experience with relational databases and SQL Development expertise with at least one well-known web framework (Flask, Django, Spring MVC, etc.)
- Exceptional critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication abilities combined with a keen eye for detail
- Capable of cooperating in a team-focused setting
- Must be a high school graduate, with the goal of pursuing or having completed postsecondary education
